Jua can only be described as a literal hidden gem, a tiny swanky Izakaya in the up and coming Charoenkrung neighborhood. Down a dark soi, you’ll feel as if you’ve been given the wrong directions or your taxi driver took a wrong turn. Don’t fear, you’ll notice a beautifully lit restaurant tucked away from the chaos of Bangkok. Owners Chet Adkins and Jason Lang transformed a former gambling house, hence the name Jua which loosely translates to “hit me” in Thai. It's beautiful minimal interior and sleek bar is the perfect setting for the start of a night out in the City of Angels.
Top dishes: signature orecchiette pasta, fried chicken egg salad, Venus clams, yakitori skewers
For the sake lovers, Jua has one of the best selections of sake. The quality trumps the quantity.
