“Rugged luxury ”

Nature’s vast beauty keeps us humble, but personalized service the way Aman does it lets us feel like kings and queens of the desert. Amongst the vastness of the landscape, dominated with mesas and canyons, lies this gem of a dune oasis for the romantic adventurer and luxury explorer. Hikes into the infinite surroundings, horseback rides, campfires under the stars, or hot air balloon rides – who knew that in the middle of absolutely nowhere (unless you count the national parks, of which there are a lot), there’s so much to do?

Amangiri

Ochre in the morning light, apricot by midday, dazzling pink at dusk, the geology of the Grand Staircase-Escalante couldn’t be more dramatic. Residing in 600 acres of the Colorado Plateau, and requiring an Act of Congress to be passed so it could be built here, Amangiri blends into countless untouched square miles of red rock country. In the last remnant of the truly wild West, this ‘mountain of peace’ is cradled by the greatest concentration of national parks in the United States – a staggering landscape of canyons, mesas, mountains, gorges, rapids and desert, with traces of human life dating back more than 10,000 years. In this grand theatre of nature, the modernist Suites of Amangiri and the tented Pavilions of nearby Camp Sarika offer an inspiring welcome to one of the world’s most dramatically secluded settings.

Hiking and Climbing
Hiking and Climbing
Numerous trails lead from Amangiri to dramatic viewpoints and hidden wilderness hotspots. Graded by difficulty, guided hikes offer guests the opportunity to discover the geological wonders of this astonishing landscape. There’s no more thrilling way to get up close with Amangiri's majestic rock formations than by taking on the challenge of the via ferrata. These ‘iron roads’ see intrepid adventurers using fixed rungs and cables embedded into the rock face to traverse dramatic gorges and sheer canyons.
The Plateau on Horseback
The Plateau on Horseback
Depart from the steps of Amangiri and explore the sweeping Utah desert landscape with Amangiri’s seasoned wranglers. Riding trails available both in the area immediately around the resort and beyond. More challenging rides include ridge-top hacks above a maze of ridges and canyons, where outlaws once hid and the cowboys of today still run cattle when the high country is buried in snow.
Hot-Air Ballooning
Hot-Air Ballooning
Launching from Amangiri at sunrise, hot-air balloon flights offer extraordinary high-altitude views as the landscape below glows red and gold in the spreading sunlight. From the basket, 360º views take in Lake Powell, Navajo Mountain, the Vermillion Cliffs and the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
Exploring the Slot Canyons
Exploring the Slot Canyons
Carved into the earth’s surface by wind and water over millions of years, the slot canyons are some of the most striking geological features of the Colorado Plateau.
