You might think this is more of a downtown lifestyle venue with rooms, what with its four restaurants and five bar-cum-clubs; but the rooms are no afterthought by any stretch of the imagination. The lodge has in its 140-year history hosted many an important person (including Egyptian princesses and a Matterhorn conqueror who would later become Pope Pius XI) and treats every single guest equally VIP. The current owners gutted the building and repurposed the spaces into 29 fab room/sanctuaries decked out in sleek wooden modernity with a sprinkling of high-octane spaces for après-ski frivolities. Plan to barhop and paint the town red? You don’t even have to leave the building, and you can leave your wallet at home.
