“Luxurious liveaboard Phinisi Ship”

Imagine the tranquility inherent ‘row, row, row your boat’ as they head gently down the stream. Now upsize said boat to a gorgeous 46m, twin-masted traditional Indonesian Phinisi, get it all decked out with teak and rattan, and swap the backdrop to, say, swimming with whale sharks in Cendrawasih Bay, relaxing on the postcard like beaches around Komodo National Park or snorkeling in some of the worlds most bio diverse marine life in Raja Ampat. That’s more like it. Welcome aboard the Full Moon. Being an Alila, the accommodation is naturally pure class, so even landlubbers wouldn’t hesitate to do a few overnighters. A fully accredited PADI dive center, onboard spa therapist, and plenty of space to wine, dine, and lounge, not to mention ever changing scenery – bricks-and-mortar hotels have got nothing on this.

Alila Purnama

Raja Ampat
Raja Ampat translated means “four kings”, referring to the islands Salawati, Batanta, Waigeo and Misool. These are in turn surrounded by a myriad of amazing, untouched smaller isles with picture postcard beaches and sheer, ragged limestone cliffs. The Baliem Valley, running through Irian Jaya’s string of jutting mountain peaks, is home to the gentle warrior tribes of the highlands, the Dani. This region on the north-western tip of New Guinea comprises about 610 islands spread over 50,000 sq. km. of spectacular scenery. It is here where the remote islands of Misool are located - a scenic range of majestic limestone mountains with precipitous cliffs and craggy spires.

Komodo Island
Komodo National Park is located in the center of the Indonesian archipelago between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores. The World Heritage site is blessed with secluded beaches, amazing coral reefs and crystal clear water. The area has over 260 coral species and more than 1,000 species of fish, marine reptiles, dolphins, manta rays, turtles, whales and dugongs. Komodo is considered one of the best dive sites in the world - diving or snorkeling in this area will truly leave you with extraordinary experiences.

Cendrawasih Bay
Extending over 14,535 sq. km., the national park includes coastal and mangrove ecosystems, coral reefs, island tropical forest ecosystems, and marine waters. The marine park itself encompasses 14,000 sq. km., making it the largest in Southeast Asia. There is a huge range of land and marine life in including The Bird of Paradise, Green Turtle, Hawksbill Turtle, Leatherback Turtle and Olive Ridley Turtle, mammals such as Dugongs, Dolphin’s, Blue Whales and Whale Sharks and over 955 species of fish. Cendrawasih Bay boasts all variations of coral reef; fringing reef, barrier reef, atoll, patch reef, and shallow water reef mound which makes this the most abundant and indeed one of the last of the few remaining pristine reefs in the world.

Triton Bay
Triton Bay is located in the far south of the Bird’s Head Seascape in West Papua, about as far from civilisation in Indonesia as it is possible to be! At the mouth of the bay lie a number of islands - Namatota in the northwest and Aiduma and Dramai to the southeast - which funnel currents into the bay and create the perfect conditions for the growth of soft corals in the nutrient-rich waters. Swimming with whale sharks, and enjoying the beautiful jurassic dark like scenery, this destination will impress even the most demanding traveller.
