“Historic village sanctuary”

Aman is not known for just scratching the surface and for its newest endeavor, relocating 50 historic Ming and Qing dynasty homes, the brand unearthed history dating back over two millennia. Along with 10,000 ancient camphor trees, the traditional homes were saved and transported from 700 kilometers away. This fabled feat of moving a forest and preserving history will knock you off your feet, but once you’re there, the subtlety and finesse of the Aman spell will keep you floating on a nourishing cloud of bliss.

Aman Spa
Aman Spa
The ethos and atmosphere of the Aman Spa draw inspiration from the resort's name, 'Yang Yun', part of a 300-year-old inscription within Beijing's Forbidden City meaning 'nourishing cloud'. While celebrating the past, the spa also offers the finest modern, diagnostic and treatments tools. The treatments, journeys and rituals on offer draw inspiration from the origins of the resort, its proximity to Shanghai, and the traditional healing practices of China.
Nan Shufang
Nan Shufang
Named after the royal reading pavilion in the Forbidden City, Nan Shufang is the cultural heart of Amanyangyun. Dedicated to Chinese art forms and the pursuit of knowledge, it is a cultural centre housed within the most architecturally impressive antique buildings to have made the journey from Fuzhou. Enhanced with furniture crafted from the nanmu wood characteristic of Ming interiors, Nan Shufang is a modern-day recreation of the scholars’ studios of 17th century China’s literati – a space to learn, contemplate and practise traditional crafts such as calligraphy, music or painting.

Amanyangyun

The culmination of an ambitious feat of architectural and ecological conservation, Amanyangyun is a peaceful sanctuary on the outskirts of downtown Shanghai. Near a rescued forest of camphor trees and a tranquil lake, 13 re-mastered Ming and Qing Dynasty villas have been carefully moved brick-by-brick from Fuzhou to become an integral part of Aman’s fourth destination in China.
