As a destination, Bhutan is as heavenly as it gets, both metaphorically and literally. The Himalayan kingdom is shrouded in clouds and mystery, with mountains and monasteries of such mystical proportions it’s no surprise the tiny nation is often referred to as “The Last Shangri-La”.
The air is pure, the traditional Buddhist culture divine, and as the only carbon negative country in the world Bhutan has plenty to be happy about. It might not be the easiest destination to reach but nowhere else will have you feeling instantaneously at home, at one with nature, and reconnecting with yourself.
In the globalized arena, exoticism is watered down. In Bhutan, archery competitions, colorful dance festivals, and snowcapped mountainscapes still stoke the flames of wonderment and wanderlust.
